We’re excited to unveil a unique and impactful partnership between NDUR and the NHL Alumni Association (NHLAA). This groundbreaking collaboration brings the voices and experiences of former NHL players directly into the crucial conversation around student-athlete mental health.

This collaboration aims to empower student-athletes through peer-driven wellness tools, emphasizing the importance of community and connection in mental wellness. Mentorship and authentic storytelling further strengthen this bond. By connecting retired pros with the next generation, we’re fostering a supportive community that prioritizes mental wellbeing both on and off the ice.

NHL alums like Ryan Malone and Kelly Hrudey are already championing this mission, sharing personal stories to inspire young athletes to be open about their challenges. Malone, through the Malone Family Foundation, emphasizes the importance of community support in mental health advocacy. Hrudey, known for his candid discussions on mental health, believes in the power of storytelling to create understanding and break stigmas, inspiring a new generation of advocates.

“This is more than just a partnership; it’s a movement,” said Glenn Healy, Executive Director of the NHL Alumni Association. “The wellbeing of today’s young athletes is something we all need to invest in, and NDUR has built a platform that’s ready to lead the charge.”

The partnership will kick off with a series of strategic awareness campaigns, co-branded content, alum ambassador activations, and a national PSA effort featuring NHL legends. These initiatives are designed to revolutionize the approach to mental wellness in sports at the high school and collegiate levels.
